Microsoft Copilot Studio’s latest update now lets organizations publish custom AI agents directly into Microsoft 365 Copilot, including Microsoft Teams and Copilot Chat on both web and desktop. This new capability unlocks opportunities to personalize productivity and streamline workflows through low-code solutions built for your organization’s specific needs.

Key Benefits of Direct Publishing

  • Effortless Agent Publishing: Quickly deploy new or existing agents from Copilot Studio to Microsoft 365 Copilot with just a few clicks, minimizing technical hurdles for makers.

  • Robust Governance: IT administrators retain oversight with integrated review, approval, and management tools available in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 admin centers.

  • Work in the Flow: Employees can easily discover, launch, and use approved agents directly from the Agent Store, embedding intelligent automation in their daily routines.

Simplified Maker Experience

Copilot Studio’s intuitive, low-code design empowers makers to build intelligent agents using natural language, prebuilt connectors, and customizable prompts. Backward compatibility ensures that agents previously created with Power Virtual Agents can be published to Copilot Chat without rebuilding, preserving earlier investments. Publishing is straightforward, simply choose Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams as the destination within the Copilot Studio Channels section.

Governance and Compliance for Enterprise IT

The new publishing workflow puts IT admins in control. When a maker submits an agent, IT can review key details, such as the agent’s name, description, icon, and connectors, via the admin centers in Teams or Microsoft 365. This review process ensures compliance with internal policies before agents reach end users.

Once approved, agents are added to the Agent Store, where admins can manage access, deployments, or removals as needed, mirroring controls for third-party apps. Agents also inherit Microsoft 365 Copilot’s robust security, compliance, and data access controls, leveraging Microsoft Graph to ensure only authorized users access sensitive data.

Agents Ready for Everyday Use

After publishing, agents are prominently displayed in the Agent Store under a dedicated “Built for your org” section. Users can browse agent descriptions, install them, and pin favorites for quick access. Friendly introductions and suggested prompts make onboarding easy.

Agents support guided, interactive conversations, such as collecting IT issue details or opening support tickets and can present dynamic content like Adaptive Cards. Automated flows empower users to handle complex requests, like submitting HR forms or generating reports, right within their chat environment.

Getting Started with Copilot Studio Agents

  • Create: Build your agent in Copilot Studio using low-code, intuitive tools.

  • Publish: Select Microsoft 365 Copilot as the publishing channel and submit your agent for IT approval.

  • Approve: IT admins review and manage agents through Microsoft Teams or Microsoft 365 admin centers.

  • Discover and Use: Employees locate agents in the Agent Store and integrate them into Teams and Copilot Chat for immediate productivity gains.

This streamlined approach empowers both makers and IT, ensuring that innovative solutions reach users quickly while upholding necessary governance and security standards.

Elevating Enterprise Productivity

Microsoft Copilot Studio’s expanded publishing options make AI-powered automation easily accessible where your teams already collaborate. With a blend of low-code development, enterprise-grade governance, and seamless deployment, organizations can customize Copilot to fit unique workflows and boost productivity.
