Rethinking Engineering Bottlenecks

Submitting a complex engineering request and receiving a thorough, data-driven response within minutes, not weeks is now possible through the synergy of multi-agent AI systems and Synera's process automation platform. By automating intricate workflows and enabling seamless interdepartmental collaboration, organizations are poised to revolutionize how engineering challenges are addressed.

The Challenge with Traditional Workflows

In industries like automotive, responding to detailed RFQs often means coordinating experts from multiple departments. This traditional process is slow and inefficient, hampered by fragmented communication and manual data handoffs. AI-driven process automation by Synera tackles this head-on, integrating with existing engineering ecosystems to help teams respond faster and scale operations efficiently.

Inside Multi-Agent AI Systems

The innovation centers on multi-agent AI—teams of digital experts, each specializing in a particular domain. Unlike single AIs, multi-agent systems deploy several agents who communicate and collaborate, mimicking the dynamics of human teams. This leads to:

  • Distributed expertise: Assigning specialized tasks to the best-suited agent
  • Scalability: Easily adding new agents as demands evolve
  • Context awareness: Maintaining and sharing workflow context for continuity
  • Enterprise-level security: Leveraging platforms like Amazon Bedrock to safeguard sensitive data

Synera's Automation Vision

Synera empowers organizations to automate engineering processes beyond mere digitization. Through a visual programming environment, engineers can model workflows, integrate with CAx tools, and publish their expertise as APIs—no coding required. This approach allows teams to:

  • Capture and automate engineering logic visually
  • Bridge gaps between design, manufacturing, and simulation
  • Standardize and deploy workflows as callable APIs
  • Let AI agents autonomously execute complex engineering tasks

As a result, routine tasks are automated, freeing engineers to focus on designing, validating, and innovating new workflows.

The Multi-Agent System in Action

In a collaborative prototype by AWS and Synera, the multi-agent system tackled the intricate automotive RFQ process. A central RFQ Manager Agent orchestrated five specialist agents: Commodity Analysis, CAD Analysis, Assembly Analysis, Purchasing Analysis, and Costing Analysis. Each agent, powered by Amazon Bedrock and connected to Synera’s APIs, focused on its area of expertise.

Agents communicated using a guided waterfall model, dynamically routing tasks based on requirements. This structure enabled seamless execution of specialized workflows, transforming complex engineering requests into actionable insights.

Minutes, Not Weeks: A Game-Changing Demo

The demonstration showcased a multifaceted RFQ processed in a fraction of the usual time. The manager agent coordinated the specialists, each leveraging Synera workflows to analyze flow rates, pressure drop, sourcing, and cost. The result was a comprehensive proposal—specs, manufacturing steps, timelines, and costs—delivered in minutes. Even follow-up requests, like alternative volume quotes, were swiftly handled by the relevant agents.

Transforming the Engineering Landscape

The impact is significant:

  • Rapid responses boost competitiveness in fast-paced bidding environments
  • Consistent quality is maintained, even during demand spikes
  • Engineers are liberated from repetitive tasks, enabling them to focus on innovation and process improvement
Toward Frictionless Engineering

The fusion of multi-agent AI and Synera’s platform signals a new era in engineering. By automating complex workflows and empowering teams to innovate, organizations can respond to challenges at unprecedented speed—turning engineering bottlenecks into opportunities for growth.
